My name is Eric Williams or Captain Eric Williams, and I have been in the military for ten years. I am currently the Commander of 106th Alpha Company and the Human Resource Officer at Joint Force Headquarters. Before I attended Belhaven, I received my Bachelor’s (Biomedical Science) and Masters (Healthcare Administration) from William Carey. A DBA will contribute to my military career by making me more attractive to the higher echelon of the military finance and human resource department. This degree would prepare me for the finer points of disbursement, auditing, accounting, financial management, and personnel management of soldiers for military readiness. Earning a doctoral degree at Belhaven will give me excellent knowledge to succeed in my military finance/human resource studies. It will signal all military personnel that I have the skillset and competency necessary to carry out essential mission requirements.

Hello All,

I am Nikoya Gillespie.  My personal goal for this course is to learn more about scholarly writing so that I can be successful in the Doctoral program, as well as, all of my future endeavors.  My favorite verses in the Bible are found in Proverbs 3:5-6.  These Scriptures instruct us to acknowledge God and allow Him to direct us.  The reason that I am in the Doctoral program is that God directed my path.  This is one of the main reasons that I selected the Doctoral program at Belhaven University.  I have an aspiration to make a difference in the lives of others and fulfill God’s purpose.  I desire to always be a servant leader. This is the reason that I created a non-profit organization that will assist individuals that have been impacted by multiple sclerosis.  I am excited to be a part of this class.  I look forward to interacting with each of you.  God bless.

This article was very interesting. It reminded me of challenges faced today among distance learners. As well as obstacles I encountered at the beginning of this journey. This is my first time taking online classes, and I felt the need to see my instructor’s face and communicating with my peers, as the author experienced in the article. As many of us may know or have read, Covid-19 brought about many challenges for parents, teachers, and students. No one knew what to do because the pandemic came suddenly, and people were crying for help everywhere. The idea of having to close businesses and schools was very shocking. Nevertheless, trying to figure out school work, teach yourself for assignments, keep passing grades, etc. Distance learning has been a challenge, and I’m sure it will add chapters to history books. 

However, surviving distance learning as an adult has additional challenges. First is finding a balance between family, job, church, school activities, and personal life, which most of us do today. Additionally, getting accustomed to working alone, finding that perfect homework balance, and hoping to keep up with it. These are times we have to keep our faith and ask God for strength to endure. As Deuteronomy (Links to an external site.) 31:8 says, “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”

Although the author faced challenges from distance learning, they found a way to survive and endure to the end. Was it easy? No. They explained the challenges faced and, throughout the process, however, found solutions to make distance learning more manageable. Solutions shared are, “Distance learning best happens with opportunities for students to connect with the material, the instructor, and fellow students.” This method has been beneficial to me. I enjoy watching the PowerPoints from the instructors, reading and responding to my peers, and the opportunities to learn about each other. This article gave inspiration and solutions to adult distance learners like myself.

The article titled, Sound Trust and the Ethics of Healthcare explains the relationship of having sound trust with your healthcare providers that one will communicate with through telecare/telehealth. People today are somewhat a little more self conscious of exposing themselves to other in relation the their health. People know feel that they are possibly able and some are better with getting medical advise from the comfort of their homes instead of going to the medical clinic/office. The only concern is that the patient, if they wish to pursue healthcare in this form, must understand and adhere to the trust of the provider or healthcare professional to treat them as they would if being seen in office. Getting an understanding with your healthcare provider/professional takes trust and understanding. The article also speaks of ensuring that all that is communicated via the telehealth/telecare meeting will be held in the highest regards to protect patient information and privacy. Understanding that in today’s world of all technology and hacking as well, this is a very important feature to keep in mind. A patient that is not well and would like to speak in confidence with their provider wants to know and be certain that the information shared will not be shared or taken lightly. The patient expects to know that everything is confidential and tat sound trust is known and observed. People like to know that they are in control, even with their healthcare options. Knowing and understanding that trust is established from the start ans will be acknowledged throughout all interactions builds the relationship and then sound trust is not questioned and the best care is received with great results from the patient overall.
